Review: After much research, this product contains the correct dose of isoflavones to target perimenopausal flushes. 2 weeks use has stopped these now. Taste horrible, but small sacrifice to make when being woken up 10plus times a night with flushes.

Review: My mother wanted some isoflavones for her skin, but said she'd prefer a dietary supplement and asked me to get the highest dose I could find. According to my research, there have been a fair few properly constructed studies on soy isoflavones for skin thickness and elasticity - but they were all focused on topical application. For the record, the isoflavones have been found effective, particularly in wound healing. So far, so good, but application to the skin is not as the same as ingestion. To date (2020) very little clinical research has been done into the effects on postmenopausal women of soya supplements. In the studies I found, supplements of up to 1,000 mg were tested. These capsules deliver 2,000 mg as far as I can make out (40% of 5,000 mg). Results of the trials were mixed with some good outcomes, but at least one subject became very ill and had to be taken out of the program. It turned out that her normal diet was already quite high in soya, and the researchers felt the ultra-high intake had caused her health crisis. She recovered after stopping the 1,000 mg supplement. It seems that dietary soya can have far-reaching effects on the system, including a softening of cell walls and blood vessel expansion. These are welcome effects on the outer layers of skin; not always desirable internally. After only a couple of days my mother developed all the symptoms of low blood pressure - dizziness, fatigue and headache. She stopped taking them and felt better within another couple of days. I'm not saying don't take these, but please be aware that more is not always better!
